Anusha and I have just come back from a conducted tour by K.S.T.D.C. of the waterfalls in Shivanasamudram.
On the way, we were also taken to the bird sanctuary at Ranganthittu and the temple at Somnathpura. We couldn't get to see any birds other than crows, storks and herons at the bird sanctuary. The temple is quite old and is quite beautiful but was strangely bereft of a priest or religious ceremonies.
The waterfalls in Shivanasamudram
The twin waterfalls in Shivanasamudram, formed by two streams of the river
Kaveri, are a sight to behold. At this time of the year, there is plenty
of water gushing in at a great speed and hitting the rock so hard that
the little droplets look like mist (see the picture above). Very beautiful
and very dangerous. We were allowed to spend only an hour here, so we have
decided to go back some time in the future on our own, what with it being
just 110 kms from Bangalore.
